The final deer harvest report for the season is in for Missouri. The season ended on January 15th, with the preliminary total harvest set at 285-thousand-483. Overall top harvest counties were Franklin with 62-hundred-47 deer checked, Callaway with 57-hundred-3, and Texas County with 51-hundred-57. The harvest is down slightly from the previous year, which was 290-thousand-224. According to the Department of Conservation, the calendar shift caused the November portion of firearms season to occur a week later than last year and during peak breeding when buck movement is reduced. Fall archery turkey hunting also ended January 15th. Preliminary data from MDC showed 24-hundred-6 turkeys harvested.
