The USDA has approved the first COVID-19 vaccine for those who are 16 years of age and older. The Pfizer vaccine will be marketed as Comirnaty(koe-mir-na-tee) was approved today(mon). Many individuals were hesitant to get the vaccine without it being fully approved by the FDA, and Laclede County Health Department Administrator Charla Baker says she hopes this will encourage those people to get vaccinated against COVID-19….

According to the FDA, the vaccine continues to be available under emergency use authorization for people 12 to 15 years old, and for the third dose of persons who are immunocompromised. Baker said they will be holding another mass vaccination clinic at Jordan Valley on September 1st for people who need to get the second dose of the vaccine, but also for those who want to get the first dose.
