The fate of a Texas County man charged with the 2017 murder of Ally Steinfeld is in the hands of a judge. Andrew Vrba’s trial is being held in Greene County after two venue changes, and testimony during the bench trial concluded last week. Judge Calvin Holden is considering evidence and motions filed by the defense. In one of the motions, the Vrba’s attorney asked for the first-degree murder charge to be dismissed and refiled as a second degree. The 21-year-old was 18 at the time of Steinfeld’s murder. Vrba and 3 others were arrested and charged after Steinfeld’s burned body was found a week after the victim was reported missing.
