Fatal Fire in Howell County
A fire that killed two people near West Plains on Thursday. According to a report from the State Fire Marshal’s office an investigator was called in at around 12:33am this morning, after the bodies of two people were recovered from a mobile home that was totally destroyed. One of the victims was located for fire fighters with the Peace Valley White Church Volunteer Department before the Fire Investigator arrived, and a second was located hours later after an extensive search. Because of the extent of the damage, the Missouri Division of Fire Safety has listed the cause of the fire as undetermined. An autopsy has been requested on the two victim’s, whose names haven’t been made known to us at this time. The fire happened at 7799 County Road 1940, near West Plains.
The fire was reported to 911 at 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 14. DFS received the request to investigate the fire at 12:33 a.m. on Dec. 15. The DFS investigator arrived at the scene at 1:13 a.m.
