Eldon Schools Open Today Following Cyberattack

The Eldon School District will be back in session today following closure on Tuesday due to what authorities say was a ransomware attack.

Matt Davis, superintendent of Eldon School District, said in the statement that the district immediately started working with third-party cybersecurity specialists.

According to Davis, the attack was discovered Sunday by the district’s technology director. Monday, the district brought in a cyber-security team to do a forensic analysis of the system. The team decided to close down the entire system on Tuesday, including the district’s phones, paging systems, and security cameras.

Davis says no data was accessed or destroyed and said the school district is investigating the source of the system’s outage to confirm the impact on district systems.
