Drug trafficking arrest in Benton County
A Sedalia man is facing multiple charges after attempting to avoid arrest by leading Benton County Deputies on a chase at speeds up to 100 miles per hour. The pursuit began when an officer attempted to pull 36-year-old William David Ross over for a traffic violation. As the car was speeding away, the deputy reported that the driver made maneuvers which made it appear that he was going to turn, but then didn’t. The driver also threw items out the window as he was traveling along the road. After Ross pulled into the parking lot of a business on Highway 65, he was taken into custody. The deputy then went back along the route they were traveling and recovered baggies that contained a white crystal substance, pills, and a green leafy substance, all of which were identified as a controlled substance. The deputy seized two cell phones and a tablet from Ross’s vehicle. Ross is charged with trafficking drugs, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and tampering with physical evidence. He is also facing a charge from another county for failing to pay child support.
