Douglas Scott Svendsen, age 51, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at his home in Bolivar, Missouri.

Doug was born in Springfield Missouri, on May 30, 1973, to Mick and Barbara Svendsen. He graduated from Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, Missouri.

He met his wife Lori in 1992 while working together at St John’s Hospital. They were married September 30, 1994, and shared nearly 30 years of marriage raising their 3 children and many pets.

Doug was employed at Citizens Memorial Healthcare as a Physical Therapy Technician for 25 years. He loved making his Colonial Springs residents smile each and every day, going out of his way to make sure they were happy and felt cared for.

He enjoyed being outdoors especially if it involved fishing, gardening, hosting fireworks displays, or building fires. Doug will be remembered for his great sense of humor, telling jokes, and doing funny things to get a laugh. He was a compassionate, caring person always thinking of others. He had many friends and enjoyed get-togethers and camping at the lake.

Doug is preceded in death by his grandparents, Marius and Josephine Svendsen, Juanita Comly, Ira Murphy, and Uncle Richard Murphy. Grandparents’ in-law, Kenneth and Ruth Gay, and Carl and Violet Riggs.

Doug is survived by his parents, Mick and Barbara Svendsen, his wife, Lori, his children, Michael, Haylee (Joel), and Ashley Svendsen, his sister, Angie Freeman (Mark), half-brothers Greg and Gary Svendsen, Nieces Kala Sheppard, Kylie Martin and Maddie Freeman, and Nephews Mark Freeman and Bryant Martin. Aunt Carrol (Chuck) Fournier, In-laws, Andy and Kathy Murrell, David and Donna Gay, Sister-in-law, Karen Martin, Karen and Chuck Tiller, and many cousins.

A celebration of life visitation will be held at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
