Doolittle Shooting Victim Identified

Authorities in Phelps County have identified the victim killed in a January 16 shooting in Doolittle.
Donny Mason, of Rolla, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 16000 block of Lakewood Drive.
Another male victim who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was treated and released from a local hospital.

Officials in Phelps County identified Keith Ahart, of Rolla, as the shooter.
Ahart was arrested and released after 24 hours, pending further investigation.

According to eyewitnesses, Mason drew a pistol first and approached Ahart with his gun pointed at him.
Deputies say Ahart reportedly drew a pistol, and the two began shooting at one another.
Mason had been shot multiple times.

The incident is still under investigation and, once complete, will be turned over to the Phelps County prosecutor for any possible charges.
