Doolittle Fire District Responds To Fuel Spill
The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District responded to a crash and fuel spill on Saturday night.
A tractor-trailer crashed and rolled over in the area of Westbound I-44 at the 182 Mile-Marker, resulting in an active fuel spill.
The crews built a dike in the drainage ditch to contain the spill and used several absorbent socks to stop the fuel flow. The crews’ efforts successfully mitigated the spill, preventing a large amount of fuel from spilling into the drainage system.
Crews spent over four hours on the scene, ensuring the fuel tanks did not leak further during the recovery process. The incident was a non-injury crash, and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources was contacted for further assistance.
