Don’t plant mystery seeds
The Missouri Department of Agriculture is advising Missourians who receive seeds they didn’t order to report them to the USDA. Jacob Fleig is program coordinator of the department’s Feed and Seed Bureau.
Fleig recommends that if residents receive a package they weren’t expecting to not open it, and if they had already opened it, to not plant the seeds.
At least five people in Missouri reported receiving unexpected packages of seeds in the mail over the weekend. Anyone receiving such a package is asked to report it to USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service by calling 800-877-3835 and hold onto the item until given further instruction by USDA.
