The Dixon Police Department reports it has received several calls from residents who have reported coming across counterfeit bills being circulated in the community.
The counterfeit twenty dollar bills are softer and thicker than genuine currency. At first glance, the bill looks authentic, but it readily tells you that “This is not legal. It is to be used for motion pictures.” The word, “replica,” appears in the upper left hand corner of the front of the bill under the KP number, also under the picture of Andrew Jackson on the front and the picture of the White House on the back, and under “20” in the lower right corner of the front of the bill. What appear to be two signatures on the front of the bill are labeled to be false.
Anyone who has questions regarding their currency bills can bring them by the Dixon Police Department to be checked. They can be checked at local banks as well.
