Death Investigation in Morgan County

Yesterday (Tuesday) the Morgan County Sheriffs Department released information regarding the death of a missing person via Facebook. On Friday, December 17th, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible deceased body on private property near highway M and Pond Road. The investigation determined that the deceased person identified as Jimmy “JD” Collins, had been reported missing from Sedalia. Collins had been reported last seen around Thanksgiving. On Saturday, December 18th, with the assistance of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department Aircraft Division, Collins’ vehicle was located submerged in a pond approximately 140 yards west of where Collins was found. Members of the Mid-County Fire Department dive team and Garber Diesel Service assisted in the recovery of the vehicle. An autopsy was performed at the Boone County Medical Examiners Office on Monday and the preliminary results showed signs of hypothermia as a possible contributing factor in the death of JD Collins.
