On Wednesday morning, a 70-year-old Saint Robert woman was killed in a three-vehicle accident near Route Z and Missouri Avenue in Saint Robert. Authorities identified the victim as Minerva Simmons. Police say 68-year-old Kennard Jackson, of Dixon, was driving a pickup westbound on Route Z, approaching Missouri Avenue, and was going to turn south. Jackson told police that his vehicle had a mechanical failure, and he could not stop at the red light. A second car, driven by 43-year-old Mia Williamson of St. Robert, was northbound on Missouri Avenue when Jackson’s pickup entered the intersection and hit Williamson’s car on the passenger side, injuring Williamson and two passengers, Minerva Williamson in the front passenger seat who later died from her injuries, and 72-year-old Mack Calvin Williamson, in the back passenger seat, all of St. Robert.
A third vehicle, an S.U.V. driven by 39-year-old David Wilson of St. Robert, was northbound on Missouri Avenue next to Williamson’s car when the crash caused the vehicle to skid sideways into the Blazer. Both ran off the left side and ended in the median. Mack and Mia Williamson reported significant injuries and were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. Wilson did not report any injuries.
