The day after labor day, Monday, Bagnell Dam at Lake of the Ozarks will be closed to traffic for approximately three months.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says the closing for rehabilitation is necessary to extend the life of the bridge, which was built in 1929.

Work will include repairs to the bridge deck, expansion joints, sidewalks and barrier walls, and replacement of the bridge driving surface.

During construction, Business 54 will be closed at the bridge for approximately three months. However, the Bagnell Dam Strip will be open. Motorists will need to use an alternate route while work takes place.

The project is expected to cost around one point six million dollars.
