The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office has received notice of a grant award that will allow them to purchase and train a K-9 Drug Dog. The Sheriff’s Office applied for a grant from the Department of Public Safety to help cover the cost related to purchasing and training a dog that won’t alert on marijuana. Sheriff Scott Rice said this is a necessary move by his agency because of the constitutional amendment related to marijuana….

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office isn’t the only agency that is facing the predicament of having to replace their K-9, nearly all are trained to alert on Marijuana. Rice said they will be using a trainer in Texas to get the new K-9 ready for service in Dallas County.
