COVID Continues Climb in County

Unfortunately, the month of June has brought a resurgence in the number of COVID cases being reported by the Laclede County Health Department. 50 new cases have been reported during the first week of the month, and Health Department Administrator, Charla Baker, says 22 new cases reported on Monday was the largest single increase in the past several weeks……….

The COVID vaccine is now readily available to all Missourians age 12 and older. Still, Baker says the number of vaccinations being given in Laclede County is far from enough to protect the community……..

Boone County, including the city of Columbia, leads the state in vaccinations, with nearly 50 percent of county residents having received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine. Nearly 43 percent of Boone County residents have completed the vaccination process. Counties that include Joplin, Kansas City, Jefferson City, St. Louis, St. Charles, and Cape Girardeau all have initial vaccination rates of nearly 40 percent or better. Laclede County currently stands just below 25 percent for initial vaccination.
