A recent Missouri Appeals Court Decision on a case that originated in Franklin County is going to change how much money some political subdivisions will receive from their tax levy. During the lawsuit hearings it was determined that levy increases based on the Consumer Price Index are unconstitutional. Laclede County Clerk Linda Cansler explains

The financial impact will vary between the political subdivisions….

The Lebanon R-3 School District Levy is expected to be reduced by about 5 cents per hundred dollars assessed valuation. Cansler said they are still in the process of getting the tax levy’s certified, so the final numbers haven’t been calculated. In Camden County, the Mid County Fire Protection District expects to start next year with about $31-thousand-dollars less because of the ruling.
