Conway to dissolve Police Department

The City of Conway and the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office have agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding, in which the Sheriff’s Office will provide law enforcement services to the City of Conway. According to Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap the memorandum dissolves the Conway City Police Department and establishes a Sheriff’s Office substation in Conway City Hall.
With the additional designated roads, the area will be called the Conway District, with Deputy Matt Frederick assigned as the District Deputy.
Under the agreement, the City of Conway will pay Laclede County $30-thousand-dollars, and the county will pay the remainder of the salary and benefits for the deputy. As part of the agreement, all Laclede County Deputies will have the power to enforce Conway City ordinances. The change over is expected to take effect on February 1st.
