A Community Alliance Program is being conducted by Troop D of the Highway Patrol this fall, and applications are now being accepted. The program is 5 weeks of Thursday evening classes, which will allow personal interaction between citizens and the Patrol. According to Trooper Sam Carpenter, the curriculum includes Patrol policies and procedures, traffic stops, crash investigation, and firearms familiarization.

There will also be presentations from Marine Operations and other aspects of the Patrol. Once the applications come in, 20 individuals will be selected following an evaluation of the application form and a criminal record check. You can get more information and an application form by contacting Trooper Carpenter at 417-895-6767 extension 3448. The Troop D Community Alliance Program will be held at Troop D Headquarters in Springfield.
