Communications Between Schools, Law Enforcement Discussed At City Council
Communication between law enforcement stationed inside Lebanon school buildings, and City Police and the Sheriff’s Office has been a concern for some time now. During security discussions they considered amplifiers in each of the buildings, however that would have cost more than $375-thousand-dollars per school building. After considerable time spent waiting for technology to catch up, there is now a more affordable option available, which Lebanon I.T. Director Jarrad Schomaker presented to Lebanon City Council on Monday. He said fortunately local law enforcement has up to date radios…
He said that with the Smart Connect System there won’t be communication issues. During the planning phase, all of the local agencies were brought in on the discussion. Rather than $375-thousand per building, this system will cost around $70-thousand, a cost that will be split between the City of Lebanon, the School District and the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office. Lebanon City Council voted to approve the purchase.
