A Columbia man has died after being shot by police in Jefferson City. According to the Highway Patrol, Jefferson City Police Officers responded to a disturbance in the 35-hundred block of Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City at 11:46 on Sunday morning. The report was that a man had a large knife. Officers reported that the man identified as 59 year old James Reising presented a knife in a threatening manner and ignored their commands to drop the knife. Officers fired their weapons striking Reising, who was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, where he later died from his injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing by criminal investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
