The weather will be perfect this evening for the public’s enjoyment of Christmas on the Square in Downtown Waynesville. Perfect, that is if your idea of Christmas includes snow on the ground.
Tim Berrier, a downtown merchant, says the idea behind the event is giving back.

Hours for Christmas on the Square will be from 6 to 9 o’clock. Traffic on Historic 66 will not be diverted. However, city streets on three sides of the square will be closed mid-afternoon to allow for vendor setup and they will remain closed during the hours of the event.
There will be free food and beverages for all. Some retail food vendors and others will be available for consideration by all.
Several downtown businesses will be open for extended hours for the event.
