(Jefferson City)–A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin chip seal operations on Route 32 beginning Monday, June 29th, in Laclede and Dallas Counties. Once chip seal operations have been completed on Route 32, crews will begin chip sealing Routes 64 and 64A, and, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, various roadways in Bennett Spring State Park. Delays are possible while these work zones are in place. MoDOT says drivers should stay focused on the road, obey all traffic signs, and give plenty of room to workers. These roadway improvements are part of a project to improve the driving surfaces and extend the life of these roadways. Chip seal operations provide a new driving surface that improves traction, seals cracks, and prevents water from penetrating the roadway. All at one-third the cost of a conventional asphalt overlay.
MoDOT says more details will be provided regarding the start of chip seal operations on Routes 64 and 64A before work begins.
