Cheryl Jean “Jeanie” Wood, daughter of the late Oliver Bertram and Wilma Josephine (Duff) Dorman was born on March 15, 1950 in Buffalo, MO and departed this life on September 26, 2024 in Springfield, MO. At the time of her passing she was 74 years, six months, and ten days of age.
Jeanie was raised and attended school in Tunas, MO. After graduation she went to Southwest Baptist University for one year. She was a hard worker and held many jobs during her life. She worked in retail sales, as a Bank Manager, and as a Librarian. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, watching gameshows, and fishing. She loved her family, her cat Eva, and had many lifelong friends that took her on many adventures. She married Bill Wood and together they spent many wonderful years before his passing. Jeanie was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be lovingly remembered by all.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband Bill; her parents; one granddaughter, Abby; and two sisters, Marie Carter and Sharon Stanton. She is survived by two daughters, Robyn Jackson and Tammy & husband Geoff Meiss; and five grandchildren, Courtlyn Jackson, Caleb Jackson, Caleigh Jackson, Emma Meiss, and Landon Meiss. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many lifelong friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Gentry, Jr. officiating. Escorts will be Dale Carter, Brent Stanton, Gary Goetz, Geoff Meiss, and Mike McDaniel. Honorary escorts will be Caleb Jackson and Landon Meiss. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.
