Conspiracy to commit murder charges have been dropped against a Lake of the Ozarks realtor. Attorneys say 43-year-old, Leigh Ann Bauman, was scheduled to go to trial in February for attempting to hire a hitman to kill her ex-mother-in-law. Investigators say Bauman told a witness the woman was the reason there was a strain in Bauman’s relationship with her daughters. Bauman believed the woman and her ex-husband were attempting to gain full custody of her children. Bauman allegedly sent a message to her children stating that their grandmother “would die.” At this time, it’s unknown if the new Camden County Prosecutor will attempt to refile charges against Bauman.

Bauman’s attorneys issued a statement on her behalf that thanked Camden County for recognizing that she never intended anyone’s actual harm. She added that her daughters are the most important people in her life, and she is sad about this and her other mistakes as a mother and their impact on her children. Bauman also thanked her ex-mother-in-law for continuing to be a rock in their lives. The Missouri State Highway Patrol handled the investigation while the case. Outgoing Camden County prosecutor Caleb Cunningham dismissed the charges before leaving office last week.
