(Fort Leonard Wood)–A change in command at the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital took place this week on Fort Leonard Wood. During a command change ceremony at Nutter Fieldhouse, Colonel Kimberlie Biever turned command of the hospital over to Colonel Aaron Pitney. Brigadier General George Appenzeller, Regional Health Command-Central commanding general, was the reviewing officer for the ceremony and presided through a video conference call. Biever will serve as the Regional Health Command-Central’s next chief of staff. Pitney most recently served as the chief of medical readiness at the Office of the Surgeon General. The incoming commander expressed his dedication to GLWACH’s mission and the ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus. “As we transition today, I assure you that our commitment will not change,” Colonel Pitney said. “We are here to ensure the well-being, health, and readiness of our Soldiers, our Army, our families, and our retirees. We will press forward through the current challenge of COVID-19 and continue to prove that we are a team of teams.”
