The new chairman of the Missouri Veterans Commission says funding is a major concern.
Lawmakers are hammering out some relief in the new budget, but according to Kelly McClelland, a new member of the commission —-and the new chairman— is concerned about its two major revenue sources:

The commission’s funding does not come from General Revenue– while they run veterans’ homes, veterans services, and cemeteries.
The Veterans Homes get some VA money for patients, but —at the same time, the Veterans Homes need to hire and retain more staff.

McClelland has called the commission to meet again in May to address financial concerns. The Commission has traditionally met once a quarter.
