The Camden County Sheriffs Office has been awarded a grant for just over $82-thousand-dollars from the Department of Public Safety. This money will continue to fund the position of a full time Domestic Violence Investigator for the next two years. Currently, Corporal Shawn Kobel has served as the domestic violence investigator for the last two years. During this time, he has been involved with creating partnerships in the community between the victim advocates, SART, prosecutors office, courts, sheriffs office, area victims shelters and many more. He conducts further investigations as they pertain to domestic violence and sexual assault against women. He will continue to provide services to bridge the gap between the initial law enforcement contact and the court process. Last grant cycle, the sheriff’s office had the goal of serving approximately 300 domestic violence victims a year. The county exceeded that amount by over 500.
