A man from Macks Creek, 37-year-old Joshua D. Taylor is facing charges related to four felonies. These charges stem from severe alleged abuse against a child, resulting in critical injuries.
The Camden County prosecuting attorney filed charges against Taylor on Saturday, which include first-degree domestic assault, child abuse, child endangerment, and felony kidnapping.
According to a probable cause statement, deputies responded to a call on Nov. 28 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The call reported a child injured from a fall from a tree at a residence in Camden County.
Taylor entered a not guily plea in court on Tuesday.
The injuries listed in the statement were grave, including a scalp laceration, broken vertebra, bruises in various stages of healing, and burns on the upper body. Taylor allegedly attempted to stitch up the scalp laceration, as stated in the document. Taylor is being held in the Camden County Jail pending a bond hearing on Thursday.
