A man from Camden County was arrested on felony charges following an investigation by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a call in the 300 block of Boone Docks Drive, where a woman was being held against her will. When officers arrived they could hear the victim pounding on the wall and yelling for help. The suspect, identified as 37 year old Robert Phillips, answered the door, was ordered to the ground, and taken into custody. The victim told the deputy that they had been in an argument, and Phillips grabbed a belt and hit her with it. The deputy recovered a 22 rifle from the bedroom. During questioning Phillips denied pointing the gun at the victim to keep her from leaving, and claimed she was having one of her episodes. At the same time, the deputy reported that he was displaying signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and admitted to using earlier in the day. Phillips has been charged with felony domestic assault and felony unlawful possession of a firearm, and is being held without bond.
