Camden County Dispatcher helps deliver twins
Emergency services dispatchers have a stressful job collecting information from callers and then making sure that agencies are sent to correct locations in a timely manner. Sometimes dispatchers are required to provide guidance to a caller which can save lives, and even bring new life into the world. Such was the case this morning, when a Camden County Communications Officer Amy Hufferd received a 9-1-1 call from a man who reported that his wife was giving birth prematurely in their home. Hufferd coached the man through the birthing process and his wife delivered not one but two babies. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ambulances arrived on scene along with Mid-County Fire Protection District and Camdenton Police Department and mother and babies are being cared for. Amy Hufferd will receive a Dispatcher Headset Stork Lapel Pin to wear on her uniform.
