Busy week in St. Robert

Traffic in St. Robert will begin to become affected today by a MODOT project to rehabilitate the Exit 161 bridge over Interstate-44. This will lead to the closure of an exit ramp to eastbound traffic. One lane in both directions on the bridge will be closed to traffic, leading to vehicle backups during certain times of the day. MODOT officials say delays are expected and they advise motorists to pay attention to their surroundings as they approach the bridge. The project won’t be completed until October or November.

Unaffected by this will be a groundbreaking ceremony at the new location of an Aldi store. The groundbreaking will take place at 11 o’clock this morning between Subway and Powersports just off Missouri Avenue. The public is invited to attend.

On Fort Leonard Wood, the United States Army will celebrate its 248th birthday on Wednesday. There will be a division-style birthday run, starting at 5:30 Wednesday morning on Gammon Field. Later that day, a traditional Army cake-cutting ceremony will take place at 3:30 in the afternoon, followed by a concert with the 399th Army Band at 3:45 on the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence Plaza. There will be a retreat ceremony at 4:30.
