Burned-out shell of a trailer unit of a tractor-trailer rig on the shoulder of interstate 44

If you’re traveling east on I-44 toward Rolla today, you may notice the burned-out shell of a trailer unit of a tractor-trailer rig on the shoulder of the interstate near the 173.6-mile marker of the interstate. The location is a short distance from the Little Piney Bridge. The fire occurred early Sunday morning and was caused by brakes overheating and catching fire. The driver of the tractor-trailer rig was able to detach the truck from the burning trailer and move it a safe distance away. The trailer contained copper wiring and nothing of a hazardous nature.
