Bond hearing set for man who fired shots at officers during pursuit

A Long Lane man remains in custody without bond, after firing off shots at officers who were attempting to arrest his last weekend. Dallas County Deputies and Buffalo Police were attempting to take Nathan McElroy of Long Lane into custody for a felony warrant at a convenience store in Buffalo when he began firing a gun at approaching officers. He then stole the truck he was in and rammed a police car while fleeing. Officers in Dallas and Polk county chased the stolen truck, during which time, a deputies patrol car was forced off the road, and he continued to fire shots at pursuing officers. The pursuit continued into Greene County, where stop sticks were used to disable the stolen truck. McElroy abandoned the truck and stole another vehicle pointing a gun at the elderly driver, traveling on to Highway 38. He finally pulled into a driveway, and after an exchange of gunfire took place again. McElroy was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for treatment. McElroy is charged with 2 counts of armed criminal action, 2 counts of assault, unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest in Dallas County, along with multiple felony charges in Greene County. McElroy is scheduled for a court hearing in Greene County on November 18th.
