Blue Star Families Giving Tuesday

Blue Star Families and #GivingTuesdayMilitary collaborated to fill a Ford and collected 215 backpacks, 20 pairs of shoes, and 167 pairs of socks for Waynesville R-VI students. Blue Stars Families is a national organization that works with militaries on a variety of issues to help make strong connections with civilians. Waynesville R-VI School District Superintendent Dr. Brian Henry says “The Blue Star Families stepped up during this Giving Tuesday and helped meet the needs of our students through providing those supplies.”

The school district was able to provide basic school supplies for all students through their COVID relief fund received through the federal government. However, some students needed items that go beyond basic school supplies such as backpacks, socks, shoes, and other items. This giving Tuesday was an opportunity to get those items to students.
