The Fort Leonard Wood NCO Academy is hosting an Armed Services Blood Program blood drive from 8 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Jan. 31. The drive happens in Thurman Hall, Room 1522, and is open to everyone 17 years old and older – military or civilian. All donors will receive a free ASBP t-shirt, some juice, and cookies, and a heartfelt thank you. — Civilian employees are authorized up to four hours administrative leave for donating blood with supervisor’s approval. — Potential blood donors must weigh at least 116 pounds and be at least 17 years old and feeling well for at least three days before the drive. They must also be well hydrated and have eaten something before donating. — Those wanting to donate should know what foreign countries they’ve traveled to in the past 12 months and bring a photo ID with them. They’ll need it to check-in. The Armed Services Blood Program is the official blood collection and transfusion agency for the Department of Defense. Blood collected at this drive will go directly to medical facilities at deployed locations around the world as well as military hospitals on installations throughout the Department of Defense.
