Blood Battle
The Lebanon Police and Fire departments are scheduled to host their first ever American Red Cross Battle of the Badges Blood Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 30 at the Cowan Civic Center Exhibition Hall. According to the American Red Cross blood donations are a record low due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lebanon Police Chief Brian Arnold tells us this blood drive is a way the community can give back during these difficult times, plus he says it’s a friendly competition between Fire and Police, in which blood donors will choose their favorite

Donors will have the opportunity to donate on behalf of either the fire department or police department and the winning agency will receive a trophy and bragging rights for 2020. Participants will also receive a free T-shirt and a $5 Amazon gift card. The American Red Cross is asking all donors to make an appointment to help keep crowds to a minimum during the blood drive. According to the Red Cross, as of April 7th, more than 15-thousand Red Cross blood drives have been canceled across the country due to coronavirus concerns, resulting in some 450-thousand fewer blood donations.
