Bill Would Help Missouri Get More Doctors

Missouri is in need of additional primary care doctors and psychiatrists. The state Legislature passed a bill this year that aims to help take the bull by the horns. Representative Patty Lewis, a Kansas City Democrat, says the state’s medical schools do not currently have the capacity for these future doctors to complete post-graduate training. To help meet the demand, her bill would increase the number of medical residency slots available.

If the governor approves the bill, it is also subject to funding.
