Bill Would Give Tax Credits To Childcare Providers

Missouri has been dealing with a workforce shortage, and lack of access to affordable childcare has been cited as a major part of the problem. State Representative Brenda Shields is proposing tax credits for childcare providers, donors to daycare centers, and businesses that help to cover the childcare costs of their employees.
Shields, a Republican from St. Joseph, says under her bill, the state could provide up to 20 million dollars annually for each of the three types of proposed tax credits. A Missouri House committee is reviewing the bill.
