Ballot Measures Tougher

The Missouri House has passed Thursday, a resolution that would make it tougher for future ballot measures to become law. What that would mean for Missourians is future ballot measures that bypass the Legislature would be required to gain two-thirds support to take effect, instead of a simple majority. During debate Thursday, Republican Dan Shaul from eastern Missouri’s Imperial, supports the effort that would also require additional valid petition signatures.

St. Louis Democrat Rasheen Aldridge says the resolution sends a clear message to voters that the Legislature does not care about their voice when they want to see a difference among lawmakers. It heads to the Senate for consideration.
