Back to work on a Congressional redistricting plan. A Missouri House committee is holding a hearing Wednesday on a new proposal that is nearly identical to the original map the Missouri House passed back in January. Lawmakers are working to pass the proposal before the session ends on May 13. The bill, sponsored by Republican Representative Dan Shaul of eastern Missouri’s Imperial, would still provide Republicans with six likely “safe” districts and Democrats with two.

A group of state Senators has been fighting this session for a map with seven Republican strongholds and one Democratic stronghold.
