Back to school tax holiday has started
(Jefferson City)–This is the first of three days of the annual Missouri State Sales Tax Holiday. The State Sales Tax is not being collected on back-to-school clothing, school supplies, computer software, personal computers, computer peripheral devices, and graphing calculators when purchased today, tomorrow, or Sunday. This is limited to clothing articles having a taxable value of $100 or less, school supplies not exceeding $50 per purchase, computer software with a taxable value of $350 or less, personal computers not exceeding $1500, computer peripheral devices not exceeding $1500, and graphing calculators not exceeding $150. City and county sales taxes will not be collected as well, except in communities and counties that have opted out of the sales tax holiday. In this area, you will still have to pay the county sales tax in Pulaski, Phelps, Camden, and Texas Counties and will have to pay the city sales tax in Waynesville, Eldon, Licking, and Houston during the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday.
