Back to school driving safety
(Fort Leonard Wood)–Many schools will be returning back to the classroom next Monday. With the return of students comes the return of school buses, forcing motorists to re-acquaint themselves with school bus safety rules. For drivers, Buckle Up, Phone Down. Avoid using your cellphone or any other activity that might take attention away from the roadway.
Expect the unexpected. When backing out of a driveway or leaving a garage, watch out for children walking or bicycling to school. Do Not Pass. It is a state law that vehicles in both lanes must stop when a school bus has its red warning lights flashing and the stop sign extended. Slow down. Watch for school zones where speed limits are reduced. And, when wearing a face covering, ensure your vision is not obstructed while driving.
