Back to School Bus and Bikes
Many schools are back in session this week and that means bus traffic has increased. It also means more traffic on city streets. Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap reminds drivers to be mindful of stopping school buses…..
Remember, it is illegal for you to pass a school bus while the stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. If your child is riding a bike to school, remind them to drive with the flow, in the same direction as vehicles, obey street signs, signals, and road markings, just like a car. Always assume that the other person doesn’t see you, and look ahead for hazards like pothole, rocks, grates and train tracks. Also, no texting, listening to music or using anything that distracts you.
