AVID is a new College and Career Readiness course offered at Waynesville Middle School and High School as an elective course. This course is designed to help prepare students and guide them through some after-graduation and career-based choices. One of the standards for the course is to demonstrate the educational options students have after graduating from high school. “My goal this year for my 7th and 8th-grade middle school students is to make sure they see the difference between all four post-graduation educational opportunities they will have: 4-year university, 2-year college, occupational and trade schools,” said Kym McCall, AVID elective teacher. AVID students started their college tours with a 4-year university in Rolla on October 20th. They were given a tour of the Missouri S-and-T campus, the Student Design Center, and a presentation from admissions on the requirements to get into the university.
