Autopsy Reports Says SCCC Offender Died Due To An Fentanyl Overdose
Texas County Coroner Marie Lasater has confirmed that one of the inmates who died in September at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking died from a Fentanyl overdose.
Lasater said this morning that an autopsy report came back affirming that 35-year-old Demarco Washington, who died September 30th, died from a Fentanyl toxicity level of three times the lethal dose.
Washington was an offender serving a 10-year sentence for first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, two counts second-degree burglary, and stealing over $750 from St. Louis County. He had been received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on September 4th, 2019.
There was a cluster of inmate deaths in late summer and early fall at the correctional center, an amount that one would not expect to see in such a short period of time.
Lasater says she is still awaiting autopsy reports to come back from most of those cases. One of the deaths. however, was due to lung cancer.
