August 12th, is the date for the annual Family and Morale Welfare and Recreation cardboard boat race

We hope you don’t get a sinking feeling when hearing this, but next Saturday, August 12th, is the date for the annual Family and Morale Welfare and Recreation cardboard boat race on Fort Leonard Wood. Teams will construct a 2-person cardboard boat that is capable of completing the course on the Training Area 250 Lake. There will be two categories of competition: Adults 18 years and up, and Families with at least one child 17 and under. Awards will be given to the most spirited team, the most creative design, and for the first boat to cross the finish line. There is no charge to participate. The race is open to the public. Do whatever floats your boat, but check the rules and guidelines first. For more information, or to register, call 573-329-8587, go to the Leisure Travel Services office, or go online to leonardwood.armymwr.com. The cardboard boat race will start at 11 o’clock on Saturday, August 12th. All boat construction must be completed prior to the event.
