Update Attempted murder-suicide in Benton County

A man is dead and a woman is in serious condition after a shooting just outside of Warsaw in Benton County late Wednesday afternoon. Benton County Deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the Grandview Beach area, just after 5:15 pm. During the investigation, it was learned that 44-year-old Donald Leven entered the residence with a gun and fired several rounds to intimate the victim, 47-year-old Rebecca Duncan, and a witness. According to the witness, Leven was upset about a recent breakup and eviction from the property. Duncan was shot in the head while trying to call for help, after which Leven shot himself, committing suicide. Duncan was transported to a Columbia hospital for treatment.
