The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a series of crimes that happened last week in the Conway and Phillipsburg area. Sheriff’s Deputies responded to calls about someone attempting to steal a vehicle in the 100 block of Route 66 in Phillipsburg and damaging the ignition switch and the front passenger door lock. The same day a 9-1-1 call came in about someone attempting to steal an ATM machine at First State Community Bank in Conway. The witness said that there was a truck backed up to the ATM and one man in the driver’s seat and another wearing a mask and standing at the rear of the truck. When they noticed the witness calling 9-1-1 they tried to drive away but got stuck, and then jumped out and ran, leaving the truck behind. Sheriff David Millsap explains how they determined these people were trying to steal the ATM.

The truck that was abandoned was found to be stolen from Webster County. The same day another stolen truck was located near the Webster County line, and other attempted vehicle thefts were reported….

Also on June 18th, a business owner on Cycle Lane in Conway reported that 3 vehicles on his lot had their ignitions damaged. Sheriff Millsap asked that if anyone has information about the incidents to call his office at 417-532-2311.
