Assault at Ballgame

An umpire at Ballparks National in Macks Creek was arrested on Saturday night after a disturbance at the park on Kissick Way. According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, a disturbance between an Umpire and a parent was reported, and a witness claimed that the umpire shoved her during the disagreement. The Deputy reported that when they approached the umpire to get his statement, the umpire refused to identify himself, and attempted to walk away. When the deputy stopped the umpire, he turned on the deputy and took him to the ground in what witnesses described as a chokehold. After a struggle, and with assistance from several spectators, the deputy was able to take the umpire into custody. 56-year-old Neal A. Sidebottom of Versailles was arrested and charged with felony assault and resisting arrest, with a surety bond of $ 100 thousand dollars. The deputy was transported to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
